School Performance

The National Curriculum gives age related expectations for each year group in school.

During the school year, the children‘s progress towards achieving their age-related expectation will be assessed by their class teacher.

Their progress will be described as being within a band. The children will progress through the bands.

 The bands are:

Emerging

Within

Exceeding

Children who are in the early stages of learning for their year group.

Children working within expectations for their year group.

Children working above expectations for their year group.

At Abercrombie Primary School we assess our children half termly in KS1 and KS2. We have an online system to record individual results called  ‘Eazmag’. This system allows us to track pupil progress in detail and analyse results. The Senior Leadership Team and class teachers also hold half termly pupil progress meetings to reflect and discuss pupil progress.

In EYFS (Nursery and Reception), the children are assessed using our own school baseline within the first six weeks of them starting school.  Reception children will also be assessed using the NFER Reception Baseline. All children are then assessed throughout the year. This is done through working with small groups of children and through observations of the children's learning. Parents are asked to contribute towards their child's assessments via an online learning journey called Tapestry. Class teachers ensure that learning journeys are updated regularly in order to keep parents fully informed.

EYFS staff also use the 'Eazmag' assessment system to track pupil's progress.
